Diving Equipment

You need to buy diving equipment that is comfortable, fits well and is a suitable investment for the style of diving you are planning to do. Diving equipment will differ depending on the climate and location you are diving in. The most important part of scuba diving equipment is the scuba unit.

This will provide you with the apparatus you need to breathe underwater and rise or descend at will. The scuba unit comprises of the regulator, buoyancy control device and tank. The regulator is the piece of equipment that supplies the air from the tank to you. Many new divers want to know how long a tank of air will last them when they are submerged under water. This is no one answer. The depth of your dive and the rate at which you breathe will all alter your consumption of the air. This is where a diving computer can come in vitally useful.

When the diving computer is integrated into the pressure gauge of the tank, it will be able to provide you with an accurate measurement of your remaining air, by calculating your depth and your breathing speed. The diving computer will also alert you to the amount of absorbed nitrogen in your tissue, helping to prevent decompression sickness.
